Something pretty amazing happened to me on the train. A complete stranger started talking to me. I was pretty startled at first. I noticed something different about him. I decided that instead of ignoring him, like we do on a regular basis, I would give him time. See what he was about. He started speaking of this book he was reading and all of a sudden I just started crying because it dealt directly with something I’m currently going through. He felt bad for making me cry, he kept turning his head away because he didnt want to see me cry, he was ashamed, but i told him it was okay. I felt he was a gift from God. He made me understand something I am not going to say publicly, but I was also there for him. I realized he needed a friend. 

He kept saying people don’t care. I told him people can’t see what you don’t show. You have to care about yourself enough to reach out. Despite the countless amount of superficial and selfish people out there, there are people that care. 

Conversation went on for a while and we ended with this “I think, therefore, I am”

He, you, and I don’t have to be what people say we are, what we think we have to be, we don’t have to let stupid names become our identity. Surpass, overcome, and transcend all chains. We have to abandon self doubt and create our own reality. You are what you believe you are. If you believe you are great, you ARE great.

I gave him my number, and I hope I was able to do for him as much as he did for me. 

Showing someone you care, could save someone’s life! You never know what people need or are going through. Be open, be human, be selfless.
